GDC Rules

Chapter 1 - Hosting
§1.101 – Host Selection
The host of the upcoming month is the person seated to the right of the host of the current month except as otherwise provided for in this chapter. 
(1)   The vice president shall identify and notify the host for each upcoming dinner
(2)   In the event that the person seated to the right of the host has hosted within the last three months, the host shall be to the person seated to the left of the current host.  If that person has hosted within the last three months, the hosting privilege shall go to the person seated to the right of the person seated to the right of the host.  If that person has hosted within the last three months, the hosting privilege shall go to the person seated to the left of the person seated to the left of the current host. 
§1.102 – Host Duties
The host shall select a restaurant and make the reservation at that restaurant for the number of people who attended GDC the previous month.
(1)   The Officer of Host Affairs shall ensure that the upcoming host is apprised of their duties. 
(2)   The host shall make arrangements with the President and reservations with the restaurant on or before the 7th of the month.
(3)   The host shall coordinate with the President as to date and time prior to making any reservations or sending out any invitations.
(4)   The host shall choose a restaurant at which they have never dined and that accepts reservations.
(5)   In the event the selected restaurant cannot accommodate the number of people who attended GDC the previous month, the host shall make as large of a reservation as possible and immediately notify the President.
(6)   In the event that the restaurant is unable to accommodate the size of the reservation, the President and Officer of Host Affairs shall work together to make additional reservations to accommodate the remainder of guests who wish to attend if possible. 
(7)   The host may not select a restaurant that has been selected by another host within the previous twelve (12) months.


Chapter 2 - Attendance
§2.100 – All diners shall respond to the monthly invitation in the affirmative by email to indicate their intention to attend. 
§2.102 – Cancellations
All diners who have indicated they will attend dinner shall notify the President in the event that they need to cancel. 
(1)   All cancellations shall be made with as much advance notice as possible. 
(2)   Cancellations within less than 24 hours of dinner are strongly discouraged.
(3)   Any diner who has indicated that they will attend dinner who does not attend and who does not cancel shall not be included in the reservation for the next month's dinner unless they confirm their intention to attend within 24 hours of dinner.
Chapter 3 - Comportment
§3.100 - No member shall criticize the host's choice of restaurant.  While honest feedback is encouraged after the meal, all commentary prior to the meal should be positive and supportive. 
§3.101 - The upcoming host shall embrace the opportunity with positivity.

Chapter 4 - Payment
§4.100 - Either the host or any officer shall request that the restaurant prepare seperate checks as directed by each diner or dining pair. 
(1)   In the event that the restaurant is unwilling to accommodate such a request, the check will be split evenly among each diner. 
(2)   However, in the event that a diner does not wish to pay an even split of the check, that diner shall calculate their portion of the bill and the remainder of the bill shall be split evenly among the remainder of the party.

§4.101 - If a diner wishes to use a Groupon or other restrictive coupon (limited to one coupon every 4 people for example), that privilege will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis in advance of dinner.

Chapter 5 - Dining Affairs
§5.100 - The Sergeant at Arms shall work with the wait staff to begin ordering drinks, appetizers, and entrees fifteen (15) minutes after the reservation time. 
§5.101 - In the event of a service concern, the diner involved shall notify the Quality Control Officer
Chapter 6 – Terms and Offices
§6.100 - The President shall serve a lifetime term at his or her will.
§6.101 - The President shall have absolute veto power over all rules, proposals, and statements, etc
§6.102 - All vacancies in offices are filled by appointment of President.  Officers so appointed and desiring to continue in office, and those whose terms expire and who desire to run for re-election, may do so without opposition, and voters shall determine whether or not they are to be retained in office.
§6.103 - Each officer shall be entitled to one vote on the board.  No action of the board shall be binding unless taken at a meeting at which a majority of all officers are represented except under direction of the President.
§6.104 – Quality Control Officer shall
(1)   work with the restaurant staff to resolve any service concerns.
(2)   Advise the Public Relations Officer of the overall level of service at the restaurant including timeliness, attentiveness, attention to detail, and accuracy. 
§6.105 – Officer of Alcohol Affairs shall investigate the libations offered at the chosen restaurant and notify the diners of his drink recommendation. 
§6.106 – The Public Relations Officer shall maintain a public record of the diners’ experience and opinion of restaurants visited.
§6.107 – The GDC Ambassador shall contact the restaurant to advise them of our planned dinner and coordinate any details which might make the dinner more comfortable or enjoyable.
