April Good Dinner: The Restaurant at The Cheshire, 4/30

April's Good Dinner had Julia hosting, and we got to try out The Restaurant at the Cheshire, which opened in November of last year. Name? No - that is it's name: The Restaurant. I guess it's a way of trying to say, "we are it - after you come here you won't even consider any other dining establishment." So did it deliver? I've gotta say, from the start, the atmosphere is gorgeous. However, now I'm trying to remember if they had any outdoor seating, which of course would've been a bonus, but then again at the intersection of Clayton and Skinker, you'd just be staring at the famous gigantic Amoco sign. But I digress - The Restaurant is gorgeous, with no detail overlooked - it's got a big wow factor but still feels warm and inviting. Five GDC'ers rated atmosphere with the excellent rating of 5 spoons - but I'm scratching my head as to why one diner rated it just "fair" - wish I knew who that was and why - please tell me where you've been eating that makes this establishment look just "fair"!
Service also got good ratings - with four diners giving it 5 spoons, and 3 giving 4 spoons. Our server was very knowledgeable, personable and willing to meet our every need. The Restaurant got the same for food - four giving 5 spoons and three giving 4 spoons. I apologize profusely because I can't remember what I ordered (probably the filet)! I need to start taking notes. But I do know that it was very good. At this time it is appropriate to mention one thing: price. This place is no IHOP, ok? It is EXPENSIVE. You do get what you pay for - great ambiance, service and food, but this is just good to note.
Overall, it's no surprise that once again all diners gave The Restaurant 4 and 5 spoon ratings. One diner said "Everything was great - the food was good but I think the ambiance and wait staff made the experience. There weren't any surprises and everything met my expectations." Another said "Will go back in a heartbeat," and I'd concur...on someone else's dime (or many, many dollars). :)

I think I'll go out on a limb and give The Restaurant a rare 5 spoon rating.
What do you think of the restaurant called The Restaurant?
